1. Remain Calm and be assertive: Try to remain composed and avoid panicking. Show the dog that you are not easy prey.
2. Make yourself look bigger: Raise your arms over your head and make yourself look as big as possible.
3. Use your belongings: If you have anything that you can use as a deterrent or weapon, such as a backpack or a piece of clothing use it to protect yourself.
4. Fight back: If the dog persists, you may be forced to fight back. Strike at the dogs nose, eyes, and groin area. These areas are sensitive and may cause the dogs to retreat.
5. Seek safety: If you manage to create some distance between you and the dog, try to find a safe place to seek shelter. This could be a building, a car, or even climbing up a tree.
6. Call for help: If there are other people nearby, call out to them for assistance.
7. Go to the hospital: After you have managed to escape the attack seek medical attention for your injuries.
Remember, preventing dog attacks is always better than having to deal with an actual attack. Be mindful of dog owners and their pets and give dogs a wide birth whenever possible.
