Battery Replacement Information on an Innotek BT-502A

After prolonged use, the batteries on the Innotek BT-502A remote training collar for dogs wear down, and you need to replace them if you want to continue with the remote training program. The device needs three batteries: one for the handheld transmitter unit and one for each of the two dog collar receiver units.
  1. Replacement Battery Requirements

    • Buy the correct replacement batteries for the Innotek BT-502A. The handheld transmitter device requires a single 12-V alkaline battery and each dog collar receiver unit needs a single 6 V alkaline battery. Innotek says the transmitter battery typically provides 48 to 72 hours of usage, while the receiver unit has a battery life of two to three months.

    Replacing the Batteries

    • To replace the battery on the Innotek BT-502A transmitter unit, first slide off the metal cap battery cover at the bottom of the device. Pull out the dead battery and then insert the replacement battery with the positive side, labeled with a ̶0;+̶1; icon, facing out. Replace the metal cap to secure the new battery in place. Insert the replacement battery in both receiver units in the same way, with the positive ̶0;+̶1; side facing out. The LED indicator light on the receiver unit should flash with an amber color to show that the device is active.

    Match the Devices

    • After replacing the batteries in the Innotek transmitter and receivers, match the components in both devices within 30 seconds of installing the batteries. This is a simple procedure: press the ̶0;1-Low̶1; button in the Dog 1 column of the transmitter to get the devices working together. If you have a second receiver unit on another dog, also press the ̶0;1-Low̶1; button in the Dog 2 Column on the transmitter.

    Considerations

    • Innotek advises changing batteries in both the transmitter and receiver as soon as the batteries begin to lose charge. The transmitter unit displays a pulsing red light when it detects low batteries. When fitting the receiver collar to your dog after replacing batteries, ensure the collar is loose enough to prevent too much pressure: you should be able to comfortably slip a finger between the collar and the dog̵7;s neck. Don̵7;t leave the collar on the dog for more than 12 hours a day. Wash the dog̵7;s neck and collar probes regularly and monitor the dog̵7;s neck area for any signs of a rash or sores.
