Instructions

    • 1

Supervise the dog when he is in the yard or garden. By watching the dog you can keep him away from the sprinklers.

    • 2

Shout "no" loudly whenever the dog approaches the sprinkler. In time this trains the dog to stay away from that spot.

    • 3

Reward the dog when he follows your commands. If the dog stops when you tell him no and follows other commands such as "come here" or "stop" give him a dog treat to reinforce the good behavior.

    • 4

Scatter the thorny parts of holly or rose trimmings around the sprinkler. Dog won't like getting these thorny particles in their paws. This keeps them away.

    • 5

Turn the sprinkler on when the dog is near it. A spray of water will surprise the dog and perhaps train him to stay away from the sprinkler.

    • 6

Sprinkle ground pepper or chili powder around the sprinkler. The smell of these spicy powders will keep dogs away.

    • 7

Spray a commercial dog repellant around the sprinkler. These sprays use odors that dogs don't like so the animal avoids the sprinkler.
