Instructions
Socialize your wheaten terrier puppy with other puppies. They'll play together, which includes biting, and they'll learn from each other to inhibit their bites based on how the other puppies respond. Puppies should be socialized in this way by 4 months of age.
Play with your wheaten terrier puppy by placing your hand in their mouth, which gives you the opportunity to teach them how much pressure they can apply without interrupting play. When the dog bites too hard, say "quit" and stop playing immediately. Over time, you're dog will learn that biting signals an end to fun.
Take an adult wheaten terrier that will not stop biting to a professional dog trainer. It is far more difficult to correct biting behavior in an adult dog than it is to train a puppy not to bite in the first place.
How to Train a Wheaten Terrier Not to Bite
A wheaten terrier is an Irish terrier with a soft, shaggy wheat-colored coat. Wheaten terriers have short, strong muzzles. It is important to teach these dogs when they are puppies to socialize without biting. They are a generally friendly breed, but also rambunctious and playful and need to be taught to play appropriately.
