The Types of Collars That Work With the ICT-700

Although there are a variety of collars available for use with "invisible" or "underground" fence systems, not all are compatible with the Invisible Fence Brand's ICT-700 system. The ICT-700 is an outdoor "pet containment solution" that uses a transmitter connected to a buried wire establishing an invisible border that keeps dogs contained to a specific area. The dog wears a battery-powered collar that delivers a "tone and correction" when it gets too close to the established border. It's important to make sure you're using the right collar to ensure the system works correctly and keeps your dog safe.
  1. Microlite Computer Collar

    • The Microlite Computer Collar is the primary collar sold by Invisible Fence Brand for use with the ICT-700. The collar works with other Invisible Fence systems in the company's 700 and 800 series. The Microlite sells for approximately $350, as of 2011, and comes in a variety of colors and designs. Invisible Fence Brand also sells a product called MicroSkinz that comes in four colors -- red, pink, green and blue -- and can cover the collar's computer unit to coordinate with the color of the collar. Weighing about 1 oz., the Microlite is among the smallest and lightest containment collars on the market. The collar can be purchased online, from Invisible Fence Brand dealers and from other select retailers.

    Other Invisible Fence Brand Collars

    • Other Invisible Fence Brand collars that are compatible with the ICT-700 include the Platinum, Basic and R51 receiver collars. These collars are generally larger and heavier than the Microlite Computer Collar. Most Invisible Fence Brand dealers no longer carry these models following the introduction of the Microlite. You may be able to find these collars for sale through some online retail sites.

    The Perimeter Replacement Collar

    • The Perimeter Replacement Collar from Perimeter Technologies is a third-party collar that is compatible with the ICT-700. It sells for approximately $150, as of 2011, through various online retailers. However, an ICT-700 representative points out that "non-Invisible Fence Brand collars may not always work correctly with the system," so the company recommends using only Invisible Fence Brand collars.

    Batteries

    • Collars in the Invisible Fence Brand line are battery-powered and work only with specific battery types. The Power Cap Battery produced by Invisible Fence Brand powers the Microlite Computer Collar. It lasts about three months and costs approximately $20, as of 2011. Invisible Fence Brand offers a battery plan that sends you a new Power Cap Battery every three months. The plan costs between $61 (one-year plan) and $183 (three-year plan). Batteries also can be purchased online and from local Invisible Fence Brand dealers. Perimeter Technologies also produces a battery that is compatible with the Microlite collar that sells for $13 to $15.
