Instructions

    • 1

Decide what commands you want to teach your puppy. For example, begin teaching your puppy to sit or to stay.

    • 2

Place treats in your pocket or at an easily accessible area. Place the puppy directly in front of you.

    • 3

Tell the puppy to sit. If the puppy continues to stand, tell it to sit and gently push the backside of the puppy down. Repeat the command and continue pushing the backside down until the puppy sits.

    • 4

Repeat the command until the puppy sits on its own. After the puppy has successfully completed the command, reward it with a treat and affection.

    • 5

Continue using the positive reinforcement techniques as you train the puppy to learn other commands.
