Instructions
Take your dog to the vet for a checkup. Sometimes, signs of jealousy can be caused by a health condition that your vet can diagnose.
Introduce your dog to other dogs in neutral areas, not at your home. Socialize your pet by taking him to a park or animal-friendly pet stores.
Do not share your animal's treats, food or water with other dogs. Give each dog their own food dish, water bowl and treat.
Keep your dog's things -- leash or toys -- away from the other animal. Avoid making him fight for his normal space and belongings. It is very upsetting to dogs, especially males.
Give your dog plenty of attention. This does not mean that you cannot acknowledge the other dog, but ignoring your dog is sure to cause jealousy.
Reward your dog when signs of jealousy dissipate. Extra praise, attention and treats are all effective in reinforcing desired behaviors.
How to Cure Jealousy in a Dog Towards Another Dog
There are some circumstances where your dog can exhibit signs of being jealous, particularly if you are giving attention to other dogs. Nudging between you and another dog, barking, growling or whining are all indications that your dog feels jealousy towards another dog. Luckily, this is usually not a dangerous issue and can be handled yourself. However, if your dog attacks or becomes violent or aggressive in any way, keep away from other dogs and get help from a professional.
