Things You'll Need
- Phillips screwdriver
- Tape measure
Instructions
Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws on the back of the RF 204 unit. Remove the back of the unit and insert one 6-volt battery into the open compartment, making sure the positive end is facing up. Replace the back of the unit and reinsert the screws to keep the battery in place.
Use the tape measure to measure the width of your dog's neck. Use this measurement to cut the length of the RF 204 collar to remove any excess material. Leave an extra inch if your dog is young and your are expecting it to get larger.
Place the RF 204 collar onto your dog by first wrapping the collar around the dog's neck. Thread the end of the collar through the buckle and pull until it is tight enough that it will not slide off, but not so tight that it hurts the dog. Ideally, you want to be able to stick two fingers between the collar and your dog's neck.
Let the dog move around as normal. Any time that it attempts to cross the boundaries set by the installer of the pet containment system, it will receive a small static shock. It will take training -- which is outlined in the owners manual of your containment system -- to teach the dog the boundary lines.
