How to Raise a Red-Nosed Pit

Positive training is necessary when raising a red-nosed pit bull as with any other breed of dog. Red-nosed pit bulls are eager to please their owners and make very loyal pets. The pit bull breed is one of the easiest to train due to the dogs' high intelligence. Raise your dog like you would your children by showing him/her unconditional love, yet consistent and constructive discipline.

Instructions

    • 1

Teach your red-nosed pit bull consistency by following your own rules. Do not reprimand your puppy when he/she begs at the dinner table and later allow the puppy to have a table scrap.

    • 2

Designate a spot outside where you want your red-nosed pit bull to relieve him/herself. Show your puppy while he/she is on a leash the area you have chosen. Take your puppy outside as often as you are able, but keep a routine schedule your puppy can count on. This will avoid accidents in the house.

    • 3

Socialize your red-nosed pit bull often. Take your pit bull to dog parks and introduce him/her to other dogs when he/she is a puppy. Introduce your red-nosed pit bull to family and friends.

    • 4

Use different commands when training your red-nosed pit bull than you use in everyday scenarios with him/her. For example, if you tell your pit bull to "sit" on the floor, choose a different word to indicate you don't want him/her to get on the couch. Using the same commands will confuse your pit bull.

    • 5

Keep your pit bull on a leash in public or outside of the perimeter of your home. Install a tall and sturdy fence. Red-nosed pit bulls are very energetic and athletic. Walk your puppy around the block each day. As your pit bull gets older, walk him/her for half a mile minimum daily.
