How to Test RFA-67 Batteries

The RFA-67 battery is a 6 V battery made by PetSafe to be used in their electronic collars. Some of their electronic collars include the bark control and wireless fence types. The RFA-67 batteries are round and come in a plastic case that plugs into the collar. The battery twists to lock it in place. There is a battery life indicator on the collars that will blink when the battery is low. If the battery becomes too low to power the indicator light, another form of testing is necessary.

Instructions

  1. Bark Control Collar

    • 1

Remove the bark control collar from your dog and find a flat, rough surface.

    • 2

Pull the straps of the collar back and hold them like a handle so that the sensor and two probes are sticking out in front.

    • 3

Scrape the sensor over the rough surface for approximately 10 inches, or until you hear a beep. If you don't hear a beep, you may need to try scraping the sensor along a harder surface.

    • 4

Replace the RFA-67 battery if you don't hear any beeping after you try scraping the sensor on at least two different hard surfaces.

    Wireless Fence Collar

    • 5

Remove the wireless fence collar from your dog and hold it in your hand.

    • 6

Walk toward the edge of your wireless fence's boundary while holding the collar in your hand. Listen for a beeping sound to come from the collar.

    • 7

Replace the RFA-67 battery for your wireless fence collar if you don't hear a beep after you try walking outside of the wireless fence's boundaries a few times.
