How to Make 2X2 Weave Poles

Weave poles are used by dog trainers to train their pets and develop their agility. There are different methods and techniques used to train dogs using weave poles, one of which is the 2X2 method. The idea of this technique is to start training your dog with two weave poles and add two more poles after the dog masters the first two. Once your dog has mastered the next two, you can add two more poles and so on. Making weave poles for this training is just the same as creating a weave pole for other exercises.

Instructions

    • 1

Group together two 18-inch pieces, one 1/4-inch PVC pipe and a T connector. Make sure you are working in a field with short grass, perfect for training dogs and mounting weave poles. Position the short PVC pipe at the center of the T connector and mount it into the ground.

    • 2

Position the two 18-inch pipes on either side of the T connector and mount them into place. Ensure that you have two stable bases.

    • 3

Get a T connector and point its center stub on the first stabilizer T connector's stub.

    • 4

Cut the eight pieces of 3-foot pipe to 20 inches long. Insert these into the end of the T connector while the pipe is laid flat on the ground. Make sure the T connector's center is pointed up and waiting for the pole to be installed.

    • 5

Mount another T connector onto the ground and repeat the previous step to form the base for your vertical field poles.

    • 6

Allow your dogs to test the weave poles, starting with two poles, to train for the 2X2 weave poles.
