Instructions
Put the electronic training collar on your dog. Make sure that the collar fits perfectly. A collar that is too loose can slip off the dog's neck easily if it tries to pull away. A collar that is too tight can hurt the dog's neck and be uncomfortable. Attach the leash to the collar.
Walk the dog while it is tied to the electronic training collar and a leash. When you are walking, first teach your dog to walk beside you. The dog will always try to move away from you. Pull the dog back and say "heel." If the dog still tries to move away from you after you keep pulling back, set the shock button to the mildest shock and press it. The mild shock is also known as a positive punishment and is usually enough to let the dog feel the unpleasant experience of a shock.
Repeat the shock if the dog tries to move away from you again even after the initial shock. However, do not repeat it always. Just press the mild shock button after a few attempts of moving away. You will know that the dog felt the shock if the ears twitch or if your dog begins to scratch the area around the collar. Only use the stronger shock if your dog repeatedly attempts to disobey even after receiving the mild shock.
Remove the electronic collar after walking the dog. The ability to learn a command depends on the dog's breed. After learning the "heel" command, you can teach your dog other commands such as "sit" or "lie down."
