Time Frame
-
It takes at least three months to assess the effectiveness of most electrical dog training. Starting too quickly can cause the training to be ineffective. Dog owners need to spend time learning how to use the electronic device. Training includes a lot of praise and socialization with their owner to get the most successful results.
Types
-
Three types of electrical dog-training devices exist: collars, fences and remote training systems. Collars eliminate excessive barking or other unwanted behavior the dog portrays. Fences teach the dog where it should stay and where not to run. The remote training would work with a collar as well. Instead of the dog getting near to the fence, it would get near the remote to receive the shock.
Function
-
The result of using any electronic training system strives to eliminate improper behavior and then reward and redirect to achieve proper behavior by your dog. The electric device will startle the dog so it focuses its attention on you instead of where it shouldn't.
History
-
In the 1950s, electronic training devices for dogs used charges that not only startled the dog but in some ways scared it so much that it refused to move or do any kind of work. Today's models have weaker charges and much better success rates.

Quick Start Electrical Training
Bark-control collars are the quickest type of electric training. The dog's own barking stimulates the static shock the dog receives, making it stop barking. Make sure the contact points on the collar touch the dog's neck.
