Agility Courses in Lawrenceville, Georgia

Agility is one of the fastest growing activities of all American Kennel Club events. Agility courses consist of a variety of activities and obstacles, such as the A-frame, dog walk, see-saw or teeter-totter, pause table, open tunnel, chute, weave poles, panel jumps, tire jumps and broad, double or triple bar jumps.

One person and one dog work together as a team to learn the agility course and perform on the equipment, so agility training is beneficial for both humans and canines. Below are some of the top dog agility training centers near Lawrenceville, Georgia.
  1. Canine Capers

    • Canine Capers is a dog agility training site and club in Norcross, Georgia. Canine Capers provides quality agility training for all levels and all dog breeds in their 20,000 square foot indoor facility. The club also hosts agility trials throughout the year.

Canine Capers started in 1993 with a few people who were interested in agility. Carrying their agility equipment from place to place, they trained wherever they could. Canine Capers is a non-profit organization and class fees help pay the rent and support the agility club and facility. Instructors are all volunteers.

    Atlanta Dog Agility

    • Atlanta Dog Agility Training is located 16 miles from Lawrenceville, in Alpharetta, Georgia. A dog agility course and a puppy agility training area are located on acres of farmland. Atlanta Dog Agility instructors believe that agility provides mental and physical stimulation, is great exercise, helps increase a dog's confidence and releases pent-up energy and stress. Agility is a great way for dogs and handlers to bond while working as a team and learning to negotiate the course.

No obedience training, except a basic "sit," is necessary to begin basic dog agility training. You and your dog progress at your own speed as you learn and practice all the obstacles, and many dogs will be running the complete agility course by the end of a 6-week session.

The Atlanta Dog Agility Training Center also offers intermediate and advanced classes.

    Sirius Dog Agility Training Center

    • Sirius Dog Agility is a private agility training center in Decatur, Georgia. The center has indoor and lighted outdoor training sites. Sirius Dog Agility describes its outdoor site as having "a surface of river sand and dirt which makes a wonderful jumping surface."

Sirius is owned and run by experienced and accomplished agility competitors from the southeastern United States. They offer classes for dogs who are just beginning agility, as well as for dogs with advanced agility competition experience.

Agility is a strenuous sport and instructors at Sirius do not want to cause physical stress to a puppy that is still growing, so dogs in all agility classes must be at least 10 to 12 months old.

Sirius uses positive methods, including clicker training, toys and treats for encouragement and rewards.
