Medium Vs. High Powered Electronic Dog Collars

Electronic dog collars are a training device used by dog owners. At first, only one level of electric stimulation was available, however, these devices now offer a choice of low, medium or high levels of voltage. This allows an individual to adjust the amount of electric stimulation based on the dog's behavior.
  1. Function

    • An electronic dog collar is a device that allows the owner to administer an electric shock to the neck of the dog. This is done through the use of a remote control operated by the owner, and does not harm the dog in any way.

    High Voltage

    • Since there are a variety of unwanted behaviors a dog may exhibit, a dog owner might wish to use a high level of electrical power for certain undesirable behavior, and a lower level for others. High stimulation is generally used for larger dogs, or dogs that are hard to train. It is also the best choice for dogs that exhibit aggressive behavior.

    Medium Voltage

    • A medium level of stimulation is used for smaller dogs, or for bigger dogs when their unwanted behavior is mild in nature. This level of power is also perfect for dogs that are not particularly rebellious but need obedience training.
