How to Introduce a Dog to Gun Fire

Gunfire is a loud, sudden noise than can often startle or frighten dogs. This can be a problem for hunting dogs, and introducing the dog correctly to the noise is important in preventing gun-shyness. Once a dog is gun-shy, it can be difficult to correct the problem. Introducing a dog to the sound of gunfire using positive reinforcement at a young age helps prevent later problems that can make the dog unable to hunt with guns.
