How to House Train Puppies at Night

House training a puppy can be a difficult task. Although it is easy to keep up with the house training process during the day, puppies are prone to accidents during the night. There are a few methods dog owners can use to successfully house train puppies, so accidents don't occur inside the house, even at night.

Instructions

    • 1

Take your dog outside right before you go to bed. Use the same command you've been using during the day to let the dog know it's time to pee.

    • 2

Place a crate next to your bed and put the dog inside the crate to sleep. A puppy is less likely to have an accident in a confined space.

    • 3

Get out of bed, and take your dog outside if you hear it moving around during the night. This is a signal your dog has to pee.

    • 4

Wait for longer periods of time to take your dog out during the night, so your dog learns how to hold it.

    • 5

Take your puppy outside first thing in the morning, so your puppy learns that this is the schedule.
