Things You'll Need
- Baking soda
- Bleach-free dish soap
- White vinegar
- Spray bottle
- Paper towels or newspaper
- Vacuum cleaner
Instructions
Make a mixture of one part each baking soda, bleach-free dish soap and white vinegar with three parts water and add it to a spray bottle.
Saturate the area with the solution.
Place paper towels or newspaper over the dampened area to cover it completely.
Place phone books or other heavy objects on top of the paper to help apply pressure. Replace the papers as they become soaked and discard them. Apply fresh paper towels or newspaper until most of the liquid has been absorbed.
Sprinkle baking soda all over the dampened area.
Allow the baking soda to sit on the area until it is completely dry. The baking soda will help draw the moisture out of the carpet as well as absorb odors.
Vacuum up the baking soda after the area is dry. This will also help to fluff the carpet back up.
Repeat the process until the odor is completely gone.
