Homemade Dog Deterrent

A dog may be man's best friend, but sometimes even best friends cross boundaries. Despite your dog's best intentions, your furriest friend is still naturally inclined to destroy things, whether that means your lawn, your furniture or your favorite pair of shoes. To keep your dog away from certain areas in your home and maintain your friendship, try making a natural dog deterrent.

Instructions

Pour 1 cup of water into the spray bottle and add 2 tbsp. of cayenne powder. Shake the bottle to mix the cayenne throughout the water.

Locate the area that you want the dog to avoid. This may be a garden outside or a piece of furniture inside. Look for bite marks and fur to find places your dog likes to go but where you may not want him to be.

Spray each area with a light mist of the cayenne solution. Your dog's nose is sensitive, so you don't need to spray much to encourage him to avoid the area.
