Things You'll Need
- 1 1/2-inch PVC pipe, three 10-foot-long sections
- PVC pipe cutter
- 1 1/2-inch PVC tees, eight pieces
- Pull saw
- 1 1/2-inch PVC end caps, eight pieces
- Rubber mallet
- Colored tape
Instructions
Cut the 1 1/2-inch PVC pipe to the following sizes with a PVC pipe cutter: eight pieces 12 inches in length, two pieces 48 inches in length, two pieces 5 1/2 inches in length, two pieces 6 1/2 inches in length and two pieces 15 1/4 inches in length.
Place four 1 1/2-inch PVC tees on a flat surface. Place a scrap piece of pipe inside one of the tees to hold the tee in place. Cut down the middle of the center outlet of the tee with a pull saw. Do not cut beyond the bottom of the outlet. Turn the piece on its end and use the saw to cut down the side to remove one half of the outlet. Repeat to cut away half of the remaining three tees. These are the cups.
Insert a 5 1/2-inch pipe section into a 1 1/2-inch PVC tee. Place a cup on the other end of the pipe. Insert a 6 1/2-inch pipe into the cup and place a cup on the other end of the pipe. Insert a 15 1/4-inch pipe into the cup and place a 1 1/2-inch PVC end cap over the end. Repeat to assemble the other side of the jump.
Insert a 12-inch section of pipe into the tees on the bottom of each side. Place PVC end caps on one end of each 12-inch pipe and place tees on the opposite ends. Insert a 12-inch section into each of the tees and cap the ends with PVC end caps.
Secure all joints by tapping them with a rubber mallet.
Place a 48-inch pipe into one set of cups. This is the jump bar. Wrap colored tape around the jump bar and the sides to increase visibility.
