Instructions
Train your Yorkie puppy using its crate as a tool. Keep the puppy in his crate with blankets and toys whenever he is sleeping, or when you are unavailable to supervise him. Even at a very young age, puppies will avoid going to the bathroom in their own space. Crate training will enable you to control where and when the puppy goes to the bathroom.
Set the puppy pads up in a specific place, where you plan to keep them consistently. This should be a place that is out of the way, and easily accessible to the Yorkie. Remember that the Yorkie will be trained to come back to these pads--and this area--time and again.
Take your Yorkie puppy directly to the puppy pads as soon as he wakes up, eats or gets out of the crate. Keep him there until he goes to the bathroom. These pads are scented to encourage puppies to go to the bathroom on them, but do not smell to humans. As soon as your Yorkie goes to the bathroom on the puppy pads, praise him and give him a treat.
Throw used pads away and replace them with clean pads to keep your house from smelling, and to keep the puppy's area clean.
Continue your training by being consistent with your Yorkie. Eventually he will learn to go to the pads by himself and use them on his own.
