Things You'll Need

Instructions
Do not walk toward the dog. If you are walking and approach an aggressive dog, it's important to stop. By continuing toward a dog, you are saying that you won't back down, which will cause further aggression in a dog.
Keep still. Do not make any sudden movements, because this might trigger the dog to attack. This includes running or turning around. It's important to stay where you are.
Lower your gaze or hang your head to the side. When you don't keep eye contact, you are letting the dog know you aren't trying to dominate it.
Pay attention to what is setting off the dog's aggression. If a dog begins to snap because you touched its toy or interacted with a particular person, then avoid the situation by making sure it are secured in a cage or behind a gate the next time that toy or person is around.
Do not yell or punish an aggressive dog when it starts to growl or snap. This will only make the situation worse. Instead, praise your dog when it is displaying calm, friendly behavior.
Keep an aggressive dog on a lease or behind a gate when introducing it to a dog or person.
