How to Stop a Dog With Repellent

Dogs make great pets, but they can also be troublesome at times. Dogs are notorious for getting into places they shouldn't be, such as closets or gardens, and making a mess. You can bring an end to this with behavioral training, but it can take several weeks for this to be effective. The first step you should take for keeping dogs out of restricted areas is to use a repellent. One of the most effective repellents can be made with materials you may already have in your kitchen.

Instructions

    • 1

Rinse out a spray bottle to remove any residual liquid from its original contents.

    • 2

      Fill the bottle with water.

    • 3

Add 2 tsp. of ground cayenne pepper to the water. Put the lid on the bottle and shake it vigorously for five seconds to thoroughly mix the ingredients.

    • 4

Spray the areas that you want to prevent the dogs from getting into. The cayenne pepper is effective in repelling dogs and other animals, but it is completely natural and safe to all living things.

Repeat once every other week for areas inside the house. Apply it once per week for outside areas as the cayenne pepper is more likely to blow away outside.
