Things You'll Need
- Tracking collar
- Rubbing alcohol
- Clean rag
- Screwdriver
Instructions
Remove the end cap of the transmitter unit and clean the contact points. Apply rubbing alcohol to the rag by placing the balled up rag over the neck of the bottle, overturning the bottle briefly, then righting the bottle again to transfer a small amount of alcohol to the rag. Rub the alcohol onto the contact points on the inside of the cap to remove any buildup.
Swap the end cap of the collar with the end cap of a second collar, if you own collars for more than one dog and cleaning the cap does not fix the problem. If the residue has been removed and the transmitter still does not work with the end cap on, but does transmit with a different cap on, the end cap is broken and must be replaced.
Test the transmitter of a Supra Lite collar by removing the end cap then applying a small amount of downward pressure on the battery with a screwdriver while touching the neck of the screwdriver to the inner wall of the opening.
Remove the batteries from the collar and check the plastic wrapping around the batteries. If there is any ripping or tearing in the plastic, it could cause the battery to remain on even when the collar is powered off, greatly reducing the life of the battery.
Replace the batteries and place a new battery or a battery from another collar in their place. If the collar functions with the new batteries, dispose of the old set as they are dead.
Adjust the broadcasting frequency of the collar by turning the tuning wheel. The broadcasting frequency can change through use, and must occasionally be recalibrated. Slowly turn the knob while using your tracking device, and find the frequency that gives the strongest signal.
