Things You'll Need
- Rubber bone or chew toys
- Cord covers
- Kennel or cage
Instructions
Give your dog appropriate toys to chew, such as hard rubber balls and bones. Teach your dog to chew these items by scolding it when it chews on cords or other inappropriate items and immediately giving the toy you want your puppy to chew.
Hide cords behind furniture and other heavy objects that your dog cannot move to discourage it from chewing on them.
Install cord hiders or protectors. These protectors are usually made out of plastic or rubber. While your dog may be able to chew through cord covers, it can buy you enough time to catch your puppy in the act before it gets hurt.
Place your dog in a room where he cannot get to electrical cords if you are unable to supervise him.
