Building an indoor dog kennel is a simple and fast activity. The materials used are already made and need only to be put together to accommodate your pet. This dog kennel can fit even in smaller apartments, yet is large enough to give your pet ample room to move around and be comfortable. Indoor kennels are a good training aid.
Things You'll Need
- Metal play yard
- Plastic or rubber mat
- Newspapers or "puppy pads"
- Sharp scissors
- Ruler
- Metal dog dishes with rubber bottoms
Instructions
Choose an area away from lots of traffic and carpet. If the dogs are to stay there when you are home, position the play yard where the dog can see or hear the family. The dog will want to be part of the family.
Put together the indoor play yard according to the directions. Lay out the plastic or rubber mat underneath the play yard. Using a ruler, measure a 1-foot distance from the bottom edge of the play yard. Do this on each section and mark the 1-foot line going across all sections of the play yard. Using scissors, cut along your drawn lines. You should now have a 1-foot excess of rubber or plastic mat completely around your play yard.
Choose a section of the play yard for your dog to relieve himself. Cover that section with thick newspapers or puppy pads. On the opposite side of the play yard, put down metal food and water dishes.
