Lagotto Romagnolo dogs hail from Italy and were initially bred to hunt. Now used for finding truffles, lagotto romagnolos are the only such breed to do so, according to the animal information website puppydogweb.com. These agile, friendly dogs are highly intelligent, make good companions and are generally easy to train.

Instructions
Walk your puppy at least once daily. Lagotto romagnolos are active dogs who need their bodies and minds stimulated. Not only will walking your puppy prevent her from becoming obese, it may also keep her from digging--a trait that many lagottos possess. Walking her may let her burn off some of her excess energy, which if not exerted, would cause her to dig.
Keep your lagotto in a crate when she is unsupervised. As a hunting breed, lagottos are always on the lookout for a new smell or something on the move. If your puppy has free, unsupervised reign in your home, there's no telling what she may get into. In addition, while most lagotto romagnolos are friendly with other animals, her hunting instinct may kick in when left alone with small pets. Therefore, it is safest for her to be contained when left alone.
Crate your lagotto to prevent her from going to the bathroom in your house. Crate-training is a highly effective method in which to housebreak dogs. It is particularly good with lagottos, because while you are potty-training them, you are also keeping them safe. Let your puppy outside before and after she wakes up and eats, and take her to the same area each time. Take her outside immediately after you remove her from her crate and always reward her with a treat or affection when she successfully eliminates.
