There are three main types of bark collars on the market. There are spray collars which sprays a burst of citronella, lemon, or unscented mists under your dog̵7;s nose to correct her. There are static collars that provide your dog a small shock that does not harm her when she barks. There are also ultrasonic collars that emit a high-frequency sound when your dog barks. PetSafe makes all three types. All three collars are easy to use if you know what to do.

Spray Collar
Remove the keeper from the end of the PetSafe Anti-Bark Spray Collar. It is the black sliding piece that you place the loose end of the collar under to keep it from flapping about. Insert the end of the collar through the two links on the back of the spray device and replace the keeper. The keeper is curved and the curve should face the back of the device.
Hold the collar so that the free end is hanging down. Feed the loose end of the collar through the top opening in the buckle, from the back of the collar to the front. Feed the loose end through the top slot and under the keeper.
Place the spray collar on your dog̵7;s neck with the spray valve pointed towards his nose. Tighten the collar so that you can only pass two fingers between the collar and his neck. Allow your dog to wear the collar for a day or two to get used to the fit before you fill the device.
Remove the collar and place the device on a flat service such as a counter. The fill reservoir should be upward.
Shake the can of spray that came with the collar and turn it upside down. Place the tip of the can in the reservoir hole and hold it down for 10 seconds to fill the device. Release pressure, press back down for another 10 seconds and remove the can to finish.
Remove the cap for the battery slot by placing a quarter into the slot and turning it. Insert the three-volt battery that came with the collar and replace the cap.
Turn the device on by pressing the grey button once for a short spray or twice for a long spray.
Replace the collar on your dog̵7;s neck. Monitor his reactions to the device for the first day to ensure there are no aggressive behaviors, such as growling or biting.
Static Collar
Place the static correction PetSafe Bark Control Collar on your dog with her standing in front of you. The device should be in the center front of your dog̵7;s neck, with the probes against her skin. Adjust the fitting of the collar until the probes are snug but not tight.
Cut the loose end of the collar with scissors. Remove the collar from your dog and burn the edge of the end you just cut with a lighter. Pass the flame over the end two or three times to slightly melt the collar. Do not allow the collar to catch fire. Once the melted edge cools, replace the collar and allow your dog to wear the collar for a day or two to get used to the fit before inserting the battery.
Remove the collar and insert the battery that came with the collar into the back of the device. Use a quarter to turn the battery to lock it in place.
