An invisible fence uses radio frequencies emitted by buried wiring to trigger your pet's collar to beep and then shock your dog when he crosses it. The whole process hinges on the invisible fence collar. If the batteries are not working, you may find that your dog has escaped the yard. Change the batteries every three to six months. Most brands also have an indicator light on the collar or the radio transmitter box if the batteries in the pet collar are dead.
Instructions
Remove the collar from the dog. Turn off the collar. Perform this step inside the house because the fence will not prevent him from leaving the yard while the invisible fence collar is off.
Remove the four screws on the battery holder. Some brands also have a lock bar. Use a coin or a small screwdriver to slide the lock bar to the unlock position. Remove the batteries from the invisible fence collar.
Replace the dead batteries with new batteries of the same size. Place the batteries into the battery holder so the positive sides of the batteries face the plus signs as indicated on the holder. Slide the lock bar back into place. Screw the battery holder back into place.
Turn the collar back on. Test the invisible fence collar by walking near the fence perimeter. If you hear a beep, move away. Put the collar back on the dog. Make sure the collar is fitted tight enough that the shock plate touches the dog's neck.
