Even the most housebroken dog occasionally has an accident. If your dog has repeatedly urinated in the same spot, you should take your rug to be professionally cleaned but you can remove all traces of urine from a wool rug that receives the infrequent spraying. When cleaning your rug, understand that you must remove all trace of urine scent; otherwise, your dog may think it's become acceptable to pee on that spot.
Things You'll Need

How to clean dog urine from a wool rug
Determine the total area that is wet with urine. You probably want to shoo your dog into another room while you are cleaning the pet stain.
Use towels to blot as much moisture from the affected area as possible. Fold the wool rug and rug pad so they won't flip back down and blot the dampened floor area. Do not scrub the urine stain, since scrubbing will spread the stain. Use a blotting motion to draw moisture out of the fibers.
Thoroughly spray the area with an enzymatic cleaner specializing in pet stains, making sure the area is completely saturated. These types of cleaners contain natural enzymes which break down all traces of pet odors and stains, rather than mask stains or odors with chemicals like some products do.
Add a dry towel underneath the rug to protect the floor from getting wet.
Leave the towel in place until the rug is completely dry, then smell the rug to make sure all odors are removed. You may need to do a second application of enzymatic pet-urine cleaner, but in most cases the first time is adequate.
