How to Install an Invisible Pet Fence Under a Concrete Driveway

Invisible pet fences are a great way to keep a pet contained in a specific area without having to get expensive permanent fences built around the property. While installing an invisible fence may be quite an easy task for do-it-yourself aficionados, some areas may prove to be a bit challenging. Burying the wire under a concrete driveway may be one them.

Things You'll Need

  • Invisible fence kit
  • Screwdriver
  • Waterproof caulk
  • Caulking gun
  • Chalk
  • Circular saw with concrete cutting blade
  • Safety glasses
  • Concrete repair compound

Instructions

    • 1

Check if your driveway has a seam or an expansion joint conveniently located in an area suitable for the underground fence. If so, use the screwdriver to remove accumulated debris trapped within.

    • 2

Bury the boundary wire in the expansion joint pushing it down carefully with the screwdriver. Once it is in place, caulk over the wire using a caulking gun and a good brand of waterproof caulk.

    • 3

Use some chalk to mark a line should your driveway not have a seam or expansion joint. In this case, you will need to use a circular saw equipped with a concrete cutting blade in order to bury the wire.

    • 4

Wearing your safety glasses, make an inch-deep (or more, if required) cut following the line. Remember to allow the circular saw to rest every few minutes to avoid overheating.

    • 5

Bury the wire making sure it fits in snug and deep. Use the screwdriver to push it down as needed. Caulk over using the concrete repair compound. Allow it dry.
