I'm sure that almost everyone has probably heard the story about Jessica Simpson's little Maltese Daisy being attacked and carried off by coyotes. Sadly this happens all to often with very little chance of the pet every being recovered alive.
Instructions
Never leave your pets alone outdoors, and if they must be left outdoors always make sure that they are secured behind a fence that is at least six feet high. It also needs to have at least one foot buried underground, this is to make sure that the coyotes can't dig their way under the fence.
Always keep your pet on a leash when walking them in areas where coyotes are common. It's also a good idea to carry a walking stick, air horn or a whistle to scare off coyotes in the event that your pet is attacked. Unfortunately Jessica Simpson's Daisy was not on a leash when she was taken.
Keep your yard clean and free of trash as well as anything else that might attract coyotes such as uneaten pet food.
Never turn your back on a coyote. Most of the time coyotes are afraid of humans but it's never a good idea to turn your back on one. Instead you need to make as much noise as possible and make yourself look larger by waving your arms over your head.
Alert the authorities if you encounter a coyote that has lost his fear of man. This animal is not only a danger to pets but to humans as well and it's important to get him out of your neighborhood as soon as possible.
