Where were German shepherds found?

German Shepherds were originally bred in Germany, hence their name. They were developed in the late 19th century in the region of Württemberg, specifically in the town of Pforzheim.

The breed was created by Captain Max von Stephanitz, who wanted to develop a working dog for herding sheep, guarding property, and serving in the military. He carefully selected and bred dogs with specific characteristics like intelligence, obedience, and loyalty.
