Do English springer spaniels shed mostly in water?

That's a funny idea, but English Springer Spaniels do not shed mostly in water.

While they do have a water-resistant coat, they shed like most other dogs, primarily through their hair. Their shedding is more noticeable during seasonal changes, like spring and fall.

Here's why the water idea is incorrect:

* Shedding is a natural process: It's how dogs remove dead hair. It happens regardless of water.

* Their coat is water-resistant, not water-soluble: Their coat helps them stay dry while swimming, but it doesn't dissolve in water and release their shed hair.

So, English Springer Spaniels shed like any other dog. They do have a moderate shedding level. Regular brushing and grooming can help manage their shedding.
