Instructions
Take your female dog to a reputable veterinarian. Having a professional check your dog is the only way to determine if she is pregnant, or if an attempted breeding occurred. A veterinarian will be able to detect pregnancy by feeling your dog's abdomen within 20 to 30 days after the conception.
Watch your dog for vomiting. Most dogs will experience early pregnancy symptoms that are similar to morning sickness in humans. A nauseous dog will often seem restless, nervous, or agitated.
Monitor the dog's food intake. Pregnant dogs will often be hungrier and beg for food more often or more forcefully than usual. If your dog seems to be requiring more food to stay satisfied, it could be because she is carrying a litter of puppies and needs to give them proper nutrition.
How to Tell If My Dog Has Been Bred
Dog breeding is generally a planned activity that occurs under the watchful eye of an experienced breeder. Occasionally, dogs that have not been spayed or neutered can come into contact with each other without human supervision. If this happens, the owner of the female dog will often wonder if she has been bred. If a dog has been bred, there is much preparation that has to be done in order to be ready for the coming litter.
