Write an ad for the newspaper. Include the dog's breed, gender, age and any helpful information, such as whether it is purebred. Include your phone number or email address so you can be contacted.
Clean up your house, yard and the dog's kennel. Many potential dog owners will want to see the dog in person before purchasing it. The cleanliness of your house, yard and the dog's kennel could be important to your potential buyer as well. Uncleanliness could be indicative of a dog's poor health or poor behavior.
Contact your local newspaper to submit an ad. Use the 50states.com website (50states.com/news) to find the home page of your local newspaper. Click on the "Contact Us" link find their phone number to call in the ad. Consider submitting the ad to newspapers that circulate in adjacent cities, as a potential dog owner might be willing to drive a greater distance for the right dog.
