How to Treat a Flea Infestation With Cedar

Cedar oil is a powerful material that will help control and kill fleas, both on a pet and in fabrics around the home. You can effectively and naturally control fleas with the use of cedar oil. Use it alone or in addition to other essential oils and other control methods to clear a home or pet with a flea infestation. Ask your pet's vet before starting a cedar control method, as some pets may be allergic to the oil or have an adverse reaction.

Instructions

    • 1

Place about ¼ cup of cedar essential oil into a spray bottle. Fill the rest of the bottle with water and shake to mix. Spray the oil mixture onto the pet's coat daily to help repel fleas.

    • 2

Spray the same cedar and water mixture onto bedding, furniture, carpets and other cloth items that house fleas to kill them and discourage the fleas from reproducing. Vacuum or wash the items immediately after spraying.

    • 3

Wash your pet with a shampoo containing cedar oils at least once a week to prevent the pet from bringing additional fleas into the house.

    • 4

Spray straight cedar oil onto the areas where the pet sleeps, such as any pet beds or favorite sleeping spots. This will help kill remaining fleas.
