Instructions
Set up a small crate for your puppy with soft bedding. The crate should be large enough for your puppy to turn around in and lie down, but not large enough that it can easily walk from one end to the other. This will be your puppy's bed and the starting point for its house training. Your puppy will not want to go to the bathroom where it sleeps, so it is not likely to relieve itself in the crate.
Place puppy training pads around the room where your puppy's crate is. Praise your puppy when it goes to the bathroom on the pads, but do not yell at it when it does not.
Give your chihuahua puppy plenty of chew toys. Puppies love to chew on things, and providing it with chew toys will help prevent it from chewing on things you don't want it to, such as shoes. If your puppy begins to chew a shoe, say "no" in a firm voice and give it a chew toy instead.
Provide your chihuahua puppy with clean, fresh water in a water bowl. Feed it puppy food per the directions on the bag based on the puppy's weight. It is especially important to monitor your chihuahua puppy and ensure that it is eating. If it misses one meal, it can experience a drop in blood sugar that can be dangerous for small breeds. If a puppy hasn't eaten and is developing hypoglycemia, it can become confused and not eat at all. This will make the situation worse, so it is imperative that the puppy gets some kind of sugar in its system as soon as possible. Put honey on your fingers and let your dog lick it off to provide it with sugar until it eats again.
