Things You'll Need
- Water bowl
- Ice
- Cooling bandanna
Instructions
Supply the dog with a large bowl of cold water. Drinking cold water helps the dog remain cool on hot days. Add ice to the bowl of water during periods of extremely hot weather.
Open the windows while driving and parked. The dog must have air flow to prevent overheating. The supply of fresh air also allows the dog to breath comfortably and reduce car sickness.
Park in the shade to keep the dog cool. Parking in direct sunlight raises the temperature inside of the camper shell. Park in the shadiest area possible to lower the temperature and create a comfortable environment for the dog.
Store a dog cooling bandanna in the freezer and tie it around the neck of the dog before traveling in a camper shell. The cold bandanna helps cool the dog in hot weather. Leave the bandanna on the dog until it is no longer cold.
Make frequent stops and allow the dog to cool off in water and shade. Swimming is an excellent method of temperature control for dogs.
