Things You'll Need
- Plastic grocery bag
- Empty bread bag
- Disposable plastic gloves
- Zipper-style sandwich bag
Instructions
Put a plastic bag into your pocket to take with you when you walk your dog. Recycling empty bread bags or plastic grocery bags is an economical way to dispose of your pet's fecal matter. Zipper-style sandwich bags or disposable rubber gloves are inexpensive and work well in collecting the waste.
Turn the bag wrong side out by inverting it. Place your hand deep into the bag. If you are using a disposable plastic glove, slip it on your hand.
Pick up the fecal matter with your plastic-covered hand.
Pull the top edge of the bag downward with your other hand so that it captures the waste inside. If you are using a disposable plastic glove, simply pull the top edge down until it encases the waste.
Zip the sandwich bag closed (if using one instead of a plastic bag) and the poop will be safely inside without your skin ever encountering the waste. If using other bags or a glove, simply tie the open end into a knot.
Dispose of the container in an acceptable waste bin at the park or throw it in the outside trashcan once you arrive home. Many parks have designated bins for pet waste.
