How to Build a Dog Trailer

Having a dog trailer you can pull anywhere is an excellent approach to hitting the road with your canine friend. However, pet owners may find it hard to fit a dog trailer into their budget. In such a case, you can build a dog trailer yourself. Just be aware though that this task is not for someone with no basic knowledge of construction.

Instructions

    • 1

Build the base of the trailer. Line up the four pieces of 4 ft. 1x2 lumber alongside each other. Screw everything into the base.

    • 2

Screw the shorter pieces of plywood to the shorter sides of the base and the longer pieces of plywood to the longer sides of the base to complete the main body of the trailer.

    • 3

Attach the 16 inch wheels to the center of the body using the electric box cover plate.

    • 4

Bend and cut your malleable metal bar into your desired trailer arm shape. Flatten the metal bar and drill holes at each side. Using your eye bolt and eye screws, bolt the arm to the trailer body tightly.

    • 5

Drill one part of the body. This is where you will attach the chain for your dog.
