Things You'll Need
- Digital color photo of your pet
- Computer
- Word-processing program
- Printer
- Paper
- Plastic sheet protectors
- Adhesive tape
Instructions
Open a new document on your computer's word-processing program. Add a photo box to the document. Insert a downloaded color photo of your pet to the box. Many people won't take the time to stop and read an entire flier, so having a large, clear photo is the primary way to catch their attention.
Create a text box above the photo on the document. Type "LOST DOG" or "LOST CAT" in the text box, using the boldest font and largest type size that fits. Add another text box below the photo. Type in the pet's breed in the same font in a large type size.
Add another text box to the bottom of the document. In it,using a smaller type size, include any other information about your pet that will help people identify it: age, sex, identifying markings, the area where it was last seen, color of its collar, if it's microchipped and if it answers to a specific name. If your pet has any behavioral characteristics, such as being timid or overly friendly, include this as well.
Add your contact information, in another text box on the document, where it can be easily seen on the flier. Save the file.
Print numerous copies of your flier and place in plastic protective sheets to keep from being damaged by wet weather.
Place your flier up around the neighborhood. Ask your local veterinarian's office and animal shelter if you can put up a flier there. Ask neighbors and friends if they will take some fliers to put in their workplaces.
