Change of Contact Information
Complete the address change section of your original registration form. Alternatively, fill out a new registration form.
Return the form by mail. Mark the form as an update, rather than a new registration. Pay the $6.00 change fee with a check, money order or your credit card information.
Contact the AVID customer service line if you rather update the information by phone. Dial 1-800-336-2843 and select option "5." Repeat the information gathered on the printed registration form to the customer service representative.
How to Change an Avid Chip
A veterinary microchip like the ones manufactured by Avid ID Systems Inc. is a tiny computer chip which has an identification number programmed into it and is encapsulated within a biocompatible material. The veterinarian injects the chip with a hypodermic needle, often between the shoulder blades or at the base of the neck of a dog or cat. The microchip itself and the attached ID number are tamper-resistant. However, pet owners may change information connected to the microchip's IDnumber. Update AVID's PETrac database when contact information changes. When a new owner adopts a registered pet, AVID requires re-registration.
