Small dogs
-
If you prefer a small, minimal allergy dog, the Chinese Crested is a viable choice. As a petite, hairless and non-shedding pet, this breed can offer you the joys of pet owning without the associated allergies. Another small, non-shedding and wirehaired dog is the miniature Schnauzer. Alternately, the Cesky Terrier has a medium coat and does not shed. If you are interested in longer, more luxurious hair that does not shed, consider a Bichon Frise or a Yorkshire Terrier.
Medium Dogs
-
If you are in search of a medium-sized canine of about 45 pounds, the Weaten Terrier or the Sheepdog may be for you. They both have long hair that rarely sheds greatly reducing the chances of an allergic reaction. If you prefer a short-haired canine, the Whippet and Besenji breeds offer hypoallergenic coats as well. Curly-haired breeds such as the standard Poddle and the Portugese Water Dog are allergy-friendly dogs that weigh up to 60 pounds in adulthood.
Large Dogs
-
An endearing gentle giant, the Deerhound does not irritate allergies with its wiry coat minimal yearly shedding. Other large non-shedding breeds choices include Airdale Terriers and Giant Schnauzers. These larger canines tend to have stronger odors than medium or small dogs, which can cause some allergies. Consider this when deciding your dog choice.

Dogs That Don't Cause Allergies
Dog dander and naturally occurring oil often causes allergies in humans. Some dogs, however, are less prone to incite allergic symptoms because they are hairless, shed very little or secrete minimal oil. If you are allergic but still want a dog, consider a hypoallergenic breed that won’t exacerbate your condition.
