Pet events and shows offer a chance for people to show off their pets, receive advice and services, buy discounted pet supplies and be entertained by animal acts.       Texas Pet Expo is an annual event held in the North Dallas area, offering services, entertainment and advice for animal lovers and pet owners. Some of the entertainers include performing birds, trick dogs, stunt dogs, reptiles, dancing birds and even a water skiing squirrel. Admission is $10 per adult, with family tickets available at $25 for a family of four. Children 5 and younger are admitted free. As of June 2010, the Texas Pet Expo does not admit family pets to the show.

    Birds and Pets

    • Many varieties of macaw are on display at Birds and Pets.

      Several birds and pets shows are put on in Texas throughout the year, at different locations. The company responsible for the event is Morning Star Expositions, owned by W.D. and Jackie Brown, who kept birds for 20 years before deciding to hold their own bird shows. Visitors to Birds and Pets can buy pets, cages, toys and other supplies at reduced prices. Puppies and reptiles are also available from a wide selection of reputable breeders. Background checks are run on all breeders.

    PetFest

    • PetFest is an annual event in Old Town Spring, Texas, and offers a variety of family-focused pet entertainment and services. It also serves as a fundraiser for rescue animals around the Houston area. Competitions, seminars, live music, pet fashion shows and a pet psychics are among the attractions. Visitors are welcome to bring their own pets and take advantage of a range of services, including microchipping, ear cleaning, nail trimming, vaccinations, massage and veterinary advice clinics. Look for Sebastian, a 6-foot-tall ferret who is the mascot of the Houston Area Ferret Association.
