DIY Dog Fence

It's odd that dogs should be called man's best friend when most people wouldn't chain their best friends in the backyard. It may be for your dog's own safety, but there is a safe alternative that allows him more freedom. Best of all, you can do it yourself. With a quick trip to your local home improvement store, you can build a wire mesh fence that your best friend will love you for.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the area you want the fence to contain. Place a metal T-post at each corner of that area.

    • 2

Measure the distance between each of your posts. Add more posts if the current ones are more than 15 feet apart. These additional posts will support the fence between the corners.

    • 3

Stand a post perpendicular to the ground. Hammer its top end until the arrow at the bottom of the post is completely underground. Do this to every post.

    • 4

Tie the wire mesh to the first post in the fence using the baling wire. Tie the top, middle and bottom of each post to secure the mesh.

    • 5

Use the wire cutters to detach the fence from the roll of wire mesh. Let your dog loose to enjoy his new freedom!
