      Pick up any large pieces of the smashed dog droppings. Use toilet paper or paper towels to aid you in picking up any large waste. Wear gloves during the process to protect yourself against germs and parasites.

      Use a color-safe commercial cleaner to clean the carpet. Spray the cleaner over the area to cover it completely and saturate the carpet. Allow the solution to set according to the directions on the back of the product.

      Vacuum the area with a wet/dry vacuum. When you are finished vacuuming the area, it will feel damp but not wet.

      Place paper towels or a dry and clean washcloth over the area. Press down firmly for two to three minutes, and continue to add fresh paper towels or washcloths until they appear dry when removed.
