Historic Sequin, Texas is home to a number of animal rescue and wellness organizations that hold pet-friendly family events in or near Seguin throughout the year.   1. Responsible Pet Ownership Day

    • Sponsored by the Responsible Pet Owners Alliance, Responsible Pet Ownership Day promotes "a positive image of pet ownership and the important role animals play in our lives." Held in September, this free, pet-friendly event is open to the public and offers low-cost vaccinations, microchips, heartworm testing, pet rescue and adoption information and a pet parade. The "I Cudda Been a Show Dawg" competition is open to any pet that is leash-trained, friendly and ready to strut their stuff!

      The Responsible Pet Owners Alliance also sponsors breed-specific events throughout Texas during the month of September.

    Pets-in-the-Park

    • Pets-in-the-Park is an annual event that takes place at Starcke Park every September. Sponsored by Emergency Animal Response of Seguin, this all-day event features a pet costume contest, Chihuahua and dachshund races and live music. It's free to the public and all leash-trained, friendly pets are welcome!

    Pet Parade

    • Every December, the City of Seguin invites pet owners to dress their pets in their finest and join in the annual Pet Parade. This family event also features carriage rides, visits with Santa, live entertainment and the opportunity to stroll through historic downtown Seguin and enjoy the decorative holiday window displays.

    People and Their Pets

    • The Society for Animal Rescue and Adoption (SARA) People and Their Pets fund-raiser is held annually at the Witte Museum. Featuring a silent auction and pet and owner fashion show that is sponsored by the fashion department at the University of Incarnate Word, this fund-raiser supports the medical needs and upkeep of the SARA animal sanctuary.

    $5 Rabies Vaccination Clinic

    • At various times throughout the year, Guadalupe County residents are eligible to take advantage of $5 rabies vaccinations for their pets. Proof of residency is required and only a limited number of vaccinations are available, so make sure to be at the Guadalupe County Animal Shelter early! This low-cost rabies vaccination clinic is sponsored by the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office, the Guadalupe County Animal Country and the Seguin Animal Hospital.
