Doggie Bedroom Ideas

Your dog is a precious commodity to your well-being and creating a doggie bedroom gives your dog a space of his own. A room for your pet can be used as a play room, bedroom or training room. After you know what kind of personality your dog has, you can decorate accordingly for your dog̵7;s new bedroom.

  1. Walls

    • Design the walls according to the breed of dog. Depending on whether the breed has one or multiple colors, these colors can be the basis of color design. A beagle, for example, commonly has light brown, black and white colors. By painting each wall a different color or just choosing one color, this can accent your doggie bedroom with basic colors inspired by your dog. Adding a wallpaper border or stamping paw prints on the walls can also bring your doggie bedroom walls to life.

    Accessories

    • Decorating a doggie bedroom with pictures of your dog or dog-themed pictures and posters can accent a painted wall. Even though pictures and posters are usually safe on a wall, dogs can chew or break them. When using regular decorations or accessories, purchase or use items that aren̵7;t valuable or don̵7;t hold significant meaning. For example, dogs can chew up accent pillows so instead of using pillows, use rawhide bones.

    Furniture

    • If your dog will sleep in her new doggie bedroom, provide a big enough bed with a soft cover. A bed can be anything from a bed to a chair to a basket. Shop around the house and use a seldom used piece of furniture for a dog bed. By adding a blanket or two and some bed pillows, a functional and inexpensive dog bed can be used effectively night after night. If your dog feels safe in a kennel or basket, leave enough room in the doggie bedroom to easily move the kennel or basket when necessary.

    Storage

    • To avoid the clutter of dog toys, leashes and other items, designate a storage area within the doggie bedroom. Begin an organized storage process by gathering any items that will be stored. Short-term stored items should be easily accessible and stored in clear plastic bins under a furniture piece, in a closet or left against a wall. Decorate the storage boxes with paw prints, dog faces or dog toy designs. Store long-term storage items (seasonal items) in an area of the bedroom where the bins can be tucked away. Closet storage is ideal for easy access where the bins are placed out of sight. Decorate your winter storage bins with a picture of your dog in a sweater, for example, to distinguish winter items.
