If the apartment provides cramped quarters for the humans living in the apace, the addition of a husky will not work well due to the size of the breed. You may need to opt for a larger apartment or hold off in getting a husky until a you can secure a larger apartment. Typically, an adult husky averages 20 to 23 inches in height and 35 to 60 pounds in weight.

    Running and Walking Areas

    • A husky, being a working class breed dog, requires exercise for optimal health. For those raising a husky in an apartment, the location must be close to large, outdoor areas that provide ample space for the husky to run and play. You are best suited having a large park or play area close to the apartment, as the husky will need to be taken outdoors daily for exercise. The nature of the husky prefers colder weather, so outdoor exercise and exertion is required year round, regardless of the temperature and weather.

    Noise Concerns

    • Prior to getting a husky to raise in an apartment, you will need to verify with the building owner or landlord whether large breed dogs are allowed on the premise. One issue to keep in mind is the tendency huskies have to bark and howl on occasion. If your apartment is in a building with reduced quality soundproofing, you may want to invest in some soundproofing panels to help prevent neighbor complaints.

    Cooling Concerns

    • A husky is a breed that prefers to maintain a lower body temperature. This is especially important due to its thick fur. Because of this, apartments located on higher floors or in areas that are subject to high heat in summer months must have central air conditioning to keep the husky in a more comfortable environment. Keeping an apartment at a cool temperature helps ensure the husky stays cool and comfortable when temperatures begin to soar.
